The Video

So, yes, most of the show got recorded, and -- what the heck -- we have put our family's act on YouTube. Here it is. Tesi, Amadi, and Tom singing. Asa on guitar. Our friends Michael and Guy on bass and keyboard.

Big night

Tonight is our church's Annual Potluck Dinner and Talent Show, a high point of the year for some of us.

Asa will perform "Three Hours" (see previous post). He will also play electric guitar in a band assembled for the occasion. Tesi, Amadi, and I, backed by part of that same band, will sing "We Are Family" (which is possibly Amadi's favorite song ever to listen to, and which always reminds Tesi and me of the final scene of the wonderful movie "The Birdcage" -- the remake of "La Cage aux Folles" with Robin Williams). Oh, and with my 11-year-old friend Elijah I will be performing a version of the Abbott and Costello routine "Who's on First". Can't wait.

Our son the musician

Students at Asa's school put on a hastily organized concert to raise money for relief work in Haiti (Partners in Health). My wife videotaped the show, and Asa chopped up the recording into appropriate pieces and posted them on YouTube.

Here he is.

About Me

I am a professor of mathematics. (I began calling myself "Empty" or Ø when hanging around at blogs, because I am somewhat fixated on the empty set. Students and colleagues know that I can be a bit of an ancient mariner about it.)
