Nika

Our cat finds bags entertaining. We find her entertaining.

I think it's a back to the womb thing.

I like your voices.

Thanks.

Nika has been trying really hard to catch mice lately, but they are not playing along; they stay where she can't reach them. I trapped one last night. It's not like we're keeping score or anything, I'm just saying.

You could stick their heads on posts as a warning to other mice. Our dogs have the same difficulty reaching them under the kitchen cabinets & behind the bookcases.

She can catch them if they venture into the open. But they won't if she's right there. This is the key idea that she is missing.

We are catch-and-release people, as you recall, not head-on-a-stick types.

That's a very charming video. It's funny how quickly she seems to decide playtime is over, before resuming it again.

It reminds me of a rabbit I looked after, a couple of years ago. Paper bags were among her favourite toys, especially when I cut holes in them and attached them to boxes as a makeshift warren. She also loved when I used a paper bag as a sock puppets to interact with — slapping it, nibbling it, becoming amorous with it, and so on. Endless fun for us both!

My son used to have a couple of pet rabbits, but they were not as much fun as that.

About Me

I am a professor of mathematics. (I began calling myself "Empty" or Ø when hanging around at blogs, because I am somewhat fixated on the empty set. Students and colleagues know that I can be a bit of an ancient mariner about it.)
